What is a cookie?

SFW uses cookies on our website (hereinafter the “Website”). A cookie is a text file with information that is saved on your hard drive when you visit a website (including tablets and phones with an internet connection). In the cookie, e.g. there is information about which websites you visited, which settings you made on the website or how long you stayed on the website. Cookies do not contain viruses and cannot destroy other information on your computer, tablet or phone.

In addition to cookies, there are other similar technologies such as web beacons and pixel tags. In this document, the term “cookies” is used for both cookies and all such similar technologies.

Different types of cookies

There are different types of cookies for different purposes. Thus, there are permanent cookies that remain on your computer for a fixed period of time, and session cookies that are temporarily stored in the computer’s memory during the time you are on a website. Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Cookies can also be divided into first-party cookies, which have been placed by the own website and which do not send data to any other party, and third-party cookies which have been placed on the website by an external actor who runs content on the website in question, e.g. by Facebook if someone “likes” a post on the website.

The purpose of SFW's use of cookies

SFW uses cookies to make the Website work better and be more useful, as well as to collect information about how the Website is accessed and used and about technical data regarding IP address(es), browser, device(s) and operating system. This information is processed by SFW in order to; keep statistics, ensure technical functionality, optimize your use of the Website and as a basis for our market and customer analyzes as well as our product and service development. SFW may use third-party software to facilitate the analysis of the cookie information.

Do cookies contain personal information?

The information collected by various cookies does not contain any personal information about you, nor can we track such information through the Website’s cookies. Despite this, the data collected by a cookie may be considered personal data under the privacy protection legislation GDPR which entered into force on 25 May 2018. This is because cookies used to identify a specific device (e.g. a specific computer or phone) are considered have the potential to – with the help of supplementary data and/or aids – be used to identify a natural person. To be considered personal data, it may also be sufficient that a cookie – based on the information it collects – treats an individual in a unique way without in and of itself identifying the individual.

SFW welcomes the extended privacy protection that GDPR entails and strives to fulfill all the law’s requirements as soon as possible. This document therefore includes such information – about rights etc. – which is relevant insofar as SFW’s use of cookies involves the processing of personal data.
